Guidelines about endometriosis provide the information related to diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Last time the guidelines were updated on June 17th 2006. The main objective of the guidelines was to develop the various recommendation and treatment of endometriosis, symptoms and side effect of the treatment. Endometriosis is a chronic and painful disease which occurs in women and it requires lot of attention.

Design of the guidelines

The working group of endometriosis guidelines was comprised of gynecologist and other experts of medicine and the self help group representatives. Once all the guidelines were reviewed systematically then the experts of the panel men three times in a day to develop and refined the guidelines. All the recommendation which were based only on the medical experience were avoided to the extend it was possible. The special internet group was given an opportunity to comment on the guidelines and after that the guidelines were published on internet for comment. After reviewing all the comments guidelines were changed and approved by the executive committee. There is a rule to update the guidelines annually and show on the website with supporting evidence.

Conclusion of guidelines

The women who are affected by endometriosis disease need a definitive diagnosis and visual inspection and medical diagnosis involving laparoscopy. This kind of diagnosis will help to determine the extend and level of disease in the body of patient. The pain that a patient faces can b treated with the hormonal drug as it reduces the menstrual flow. The entire hormonal drug has same effect but their side effects should be studied before their use. In case of mild endometriosis when the ovaries are suppressed in order to improve the fertility is not at all effective. The evidence is not enough to determine whether the surgery increases the chances of pregnancy within woman affected by endometriosis. IVF is an effective treatment to cope up with endometriosis. The management of a severe endometriosis is very complex and requires the treatment with an expert. All the guidelines provide the supportive evidence and documentation to help the patient.
