Endometriosis is a very common medical condition in which bits of the tissue of the uterus grow in other parts of the body. This is just like uterine tissue. This builds up and sheds in response to monthly hormonal cycles. There is no natural outlet for the blood that is discarded from the implants. Instead it falls into the adjacent organs. This causes swelling and inflammation. The repeated irritation leads to the development of scar tissue and adhesions in the area of the endometrial implants. Painful menstruation and infertility are the two symptoms of Endometriosis. It can take up to eight years to diagnose. Pelvic pain is one of the most common symptoms of Endometriosis.

Financial cost of dealing with Endometriosis:

The treatment for Endometriosis is very expensive. A normal woman cannot afford for it.

For some women the financial cost of dealing with Endometriosis becomes a burden. This is more relevant for women in the region where there is no proper health care system. There are several types of treatments for Endometriosis. The cost depends on the type of the treatment. The cost of surgical treatment is normally very high. The other costs are drug treatment, consultation fees, tests and other fees. Some of the insurance companies will not cover the cost of any treatment for gynecological problems. This includes Endometriosis. Even if one has insurance there may be many items and clauses in the policy that will exclude very important needs of the treatment costs.

Tips and suggestions:

There are many tips through which one can save money or have money for the treatment. Initially a clear understanding of the insurance policy should be got. There are many federal programs, which provide assistance. This may be a lengthy application process but one will be benefited. A proper assistance should be taken from an account. This advice is helpful for those who travel out of state to seek treatment with an Endometriosis specialist. Some of the physicians work with fee scales and payment plans to assist their patients. The patients are not allowed to go outside or travel so they can work from home.
