Endometriosis is the general and regular disease of women, which affects many a woman in the world and deprives them of the joy of having a child. In endometriosis the tissues that form the lining of the uterus begin to grow in other places of the patients' abdominal cavity and there the trouble begins. The implant of the endometrial tissue in places other than its natural place is termed as endometriosis.

In many cases of infertility endometriosis has been found the leading cause of not conceiving. There are many theories that are advocated for the development of endometriosis. Some physicians feel that endometriosis is caused mainly because women tend to delay their pregnancy due to reasons of their career and so this disorder is also termed as the career woman' disorder. If one routinely checks the menstrual cycle and pay immediate and urgent medical attention to any irregularity in the menstrual cycle then this disease can be prevented to a certain level of harm.

Endometriosis shows certain signs like severe and acute pain in the pelvic region of the body, pain and severe menstrual cramps during the menstruation cycle. It is also possible for many women to show no signs of endometriosis and still they have the disorder. The endometriosis disease has mild and severe categories that affect the patient in fertility.

Endometriosis cannot be diagnosed by only simple outer symptoms like the pain in the pelvic cavity. A detailed physical examination has to done in order to determine decisively if one has endometriosis or not. When a woman has complaints of pain during sex or menstrual cramps in menstruation she has to check for the presence of endometriosis. The doctor examines endometriosis by doing laparoscopy. Many a times it has been found that patients goes for the treatment for infertility and is diagnosed with endometriosis. With laparoscopy the doctor can examine the reproductive organs of the patient to determine the presence of endometriosis. With the laparoscope the doctor can check the uterus, the fallopian tubes, and the ovaries to diagnose for endometriosis. For better diagnosis even biopsy can be done of the tissues taken from the suspected parts of the body.
